Indian Driving License Valid in UK????
Hello,
Am travelling to the UK from India(where I hold a valid driving License) and would like to know if it is valid in the UK.
I checked out this site:
http://www.dvla.gov.uk/drivers/drvi...her%20countries
and it says
"Provided your full licence remains valid, you can drive any category of
small vehicle shown on your licence for up to 12 months from the time you
became resident. To ensure continuous driving entitlement a provisional GB
licence must have been obtained and a driving test(s) passed before the 12
month period elapses. If you obtain a provisional licence during this
period, you are not subject to provisional licence conditions e.g.
displaying `L' plates or being supervised by a qualified driver or being
precluded from motorways."
Now I have been to the UK before(3 years back) - and I cant find out if this means that I cant drive it - or if I can still do so - I am going to be on a Business Visa on some work.
hoep someone can help with legalese???!!
Cheers
Dodo

Get an International Driving Permit. It is probably available from your Indian AA. This is just a translation of your national permit and you need to carry both with you.
If you think that you are going to stay longer than 12 months in GB then you should consider getting a GB licence, once you are settled in.
I don't think it matters that you've been to GB before. In any case, no cop will know about it, so don't tell anybody.

First rule of border crossings: never show a document you aren't asked for.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
