Insurance Arg,Chile, Bol, Par, Uru, Brazil
FYI: I just got Insurance for my BMW R1200GSA at an Allianz agency in Buenos Aires for these countries:
Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil
3rd party only (the only option for foreign number plates)
1 year is Arg. Pesos 1062,-
1/2 year is 580,-
I arranged it by eMail before leaving Germany with
Roby Speiser email: roby[at]speiserseguros[dot]com[dot]ar
The office is not far from the Obelisc in BsAs
Diagonal Roque Saenz Peña 651 p3 of. 56
4326-3647 / 2611 - Capital (country code is +54, you'll have to look up the prefix for Buenos Aires if you want to call)
He e-mailed me an advance letter confirming my intent to take out insurance with Allianz in case I should need it for customs. Well, getting off the Grimaldi ship, I wasn't asked for any (!) vehicle documents, To get the bike in the country only took 5 minutes!
A day after my arrival in town I went to his office. He had everything prepared, I only had to pay the 1062 Pesos (cash only) and pick up the contract and the green card for the other countries. Also took just 5 minutes. And I always thought Argentina was a red-tape nightmare
I hear ATM insurance is a bit cheaper, but you have to wait a few days if you want it to be valid in neighboring countries. And Roby speaks German, (and probably english too), which would be a great help if I should actually have an accident.
Cheers
Frank
