Insurance in Morocco

When I went to Morocco in May I had a problem getting local temporary insurance. The previous visits were straight forwards, go to the right window at Ceuta border, pay 900D, 10minutes and all done. In May the insurance company and indeed the money changers were gone and as we had three of our group with no green card we had to find insurance. A pains taking 4 hour search and wait and we had it but I dont want the same problem this October when we go again. Has anyone been through Ceuta recently and found where local insurance can be bought. Part of our problem is that we will possibly have 20 plus landrovers and parking then becomes an issue in the towns.

The insurance/banking offices are still closed at Ceuta. There is an insurance company in Fnediq (Matu Insurance) a couple of miles down the road at N35 50.707 W5 21.253. I've also heard of Les Assurances Saidia du Nord, 117 avenue Mohammed V, Fnideq, tel +212 39.97.62.22.

I'm also understand there's a place in Algeciras (just outside the gates and over the road from the covered vehicle queueing area) that sells insurance for Morocco. If you find an exact location for this please post directions. I'm told it doesn't open early so you wouldn't be able to catch the first couple of boats in the morning.

Two other alternatives are to
- enter via Tanger, or to
- get green card cover from your UK insurance company.

Hi Tim, thanks for the reply, at least it gives some options. So you know who you talking to, we met in Ibis Meknes and again at Portsmouth last April. We have a Landrover 110 in Grey and we help run the trips for Vince Cobley of Protrax.
Regards

I remember you well, even though I was fighting a cold on our last meeting. Good luck with your trip.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
