Medical insurance, does /anyone/ cover countries included on the FCO website?
I've had a search through here and phoned insurer after insurer but I've yet to find anyone that will cover me for all parts of Iran/Pakistan/India/Phillipines/Sri lanka etc...
Has anyone managed to get insurance that covers everywhere? or is it just not possible?

Just as one case, here is one of the threads of similar subject that pop up at the bottom of your thread:-
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...insurance-3995
It has some suggestions of companies, but they are from about 3-4 years ago.
Over there on the left is more about insurance, IIRC: the HUBB has a load of backup information - it is probably in the paperwork section.
In fact, here it is!!

quastdog,
FCO = Foreign and Commonweath Office for the UK Govn (I can't recall what you guys call your equivalent - State Dept?).

The first one in that thread looks great (worldwideinsure) until you get to the bit in their policy that says they don't cover motorcycles!
navigatortravelinsurance looks promising though.. I'll try them..

Just rang up Navigator Travel Insurance and spoke to a fantastic chap called Richard (who spent ages with me on the phone talking about the FCO exclusions as opposed to the guy I spoke to at Carole Nash who got very irritated by my questions).
He told me that he's asked the underwriter about FCO exclusions before and they've told him that you're covered medically anywhere so long as you're not injured in relation to the FCOs warning (ie; you didn't get shot by bandits or something).
He asked them for this in writing and they refused, which I found a little worrying however he told me that he'd tried it out before and in that particular incident it was some poor chap with appendicitis and the underwriter never even asked where he was!
He was also very helpful in explaining how we could get the policy to cover a multi-year trip.
And to boot, he can setup paperwork for departure dates up until June 2009, so I gave him my credit card then and there!
Top company so far, hopefully I'll never have to find out if their underwriters (lloyds) are as nice!

What about Medjet?
On this site...
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/tripplan/safety/
...it says they DO issue insurance for non-US citizens. However, the link provided doesn't work.
Does Medjet cover "FCO listed" countries?
Is it still available for non-US/non-Canadian citizens?
What's the difference between Medjet and a "normal" travel insurance? Are Medjet only for medical cases – or do they cover a bit of luggage as well?

Medjet are just to fly you to hospital in the event of an accident. Not for luggage, though you'd be able to take normal luggage with you... They don't insure your stuff though, so no payouts on thefts or whatever.
They're American, so they restrict cover to countries the US State Dept haven't issued a warning about (so probably more restrictive than the UK FCO). It's kinda fair enough though, why should their staff be sent to Afghanistan to rescue you...
It is still available, I'm a UK citizen and got it for our UK to RSA trip Sept 07 to March 08. In fact I'm probably still covered now Mail them at info@medjetassist.com
The cover was pretty reasonable, too at US$380 for six months.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
