Moroccan visa for South African passport holders travelling overland?
Hi folks
Does anyone have experience getting into Morocco with a South African passport when travelling overland?
South Africans aren't Morocco's favourite tourists (since South Africa supported the Sahwari in their claim to autonomous rule in the Western Sahara, which Morocco didn't appreciate!), and as such it is rather difficult for South Africans to get visas for Morocco.
As you can see here, original proof of travel and accommodation is required. Since we aim to enter via Cueta, and depart via Mauritania, our travel proof is non-existent.
Accommodation proof is also non-existent - we would like to be camping or finding hotels en-route when so desired.
Is it possible to obtain a visa at the border with a South African passport?
If not, is it possible to obtain a visa beforehand without having proof of travel (or would a carnet be sufficient)?
Does anyone have any advice on this please?
Thanks
Steve
