Mumbai Airport Vehicle Release Form

Apparently I have to get a form from an office in the town centre before going to the airport. Does anyone have any details of this office such as an address?

You must get a letter of no objection from the Western India Automobile Association. The WIAA will need to contact your Carnet issuer to essentially verify that your Carnet is good... (Isn't that the point of Carnet?). It's a bit of a pain but you can also sort out your mandatory vehicle insurance at the same time. We e-mailed our Carnet issuer and had them e-mail the WIAA before we made the train trip into town to save us a trip. Vincent Machado was the gentleman we dealt with when we were there last November. You will need photocopies of certain pages of your Carnet and your passport, but there is a handy copy shop on the ground floor of the building.

The contact info is:

WIAA
Lalji Naranji Memorial Building, 76 Veer Nariman Road,
Churchgate, Mumbai - 400 020, INDIA
Tel.: 022 - 22041085 / 22041271
Fax: 022 - 22041382
E-mail: wiaa@wiaaindia.com or wiaaindia@rediffmail.com

If you take the commuter train to the Churchgate station, the WIAA office is located less than two blocks away from the station.

For more info, you can read about our experiences in our trip report beginning here http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...0-6#post359409

Good Luck and have plenty of patience!

Perfect, you've saved me a lot of hassle!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
