No Carnet in China - What can I do?
It looks like I cannot get a Carnet issued in China. Have heard about using a fake, posting bonds as I go, etc. Would appreciate any advice/sources/suggestions/help that anyone has.
Regards
Jack

I have the exact same problem. My bike is an xr250 and the ownership isnt even in my name.
My Chinese friend just suggested a forger, apperenly many many of the telephone numbers spraypainted on the sides of buildings are for forgers.
I'll get in contact with one and post back. Maybe not for a while though.

As far as I know China has not signed up to the international motoring agreements, so even your licence and rego may well not be recognised outside China. Will the Chinese actually allow you to take the bike out of the country? Where do you want to travel?
Perhaps you can get one on route in another country, but that's a dodgy proposition. The French AA told me that they can only issue carnets to vehicles registered outside France if there is no issuing authority in the originating country. This applies to you.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
