Registration document for Argentina & other S. American countries
I am in Germany with my Oman-registered Land Roverand wish to take it to South America, probably Argentina.
I left Oman in 2011 with a carnet du passage but that has run out. In Oman, the only ownership/registration document issued is a plastic card in Arabic but with the period of validity shown in Roman script and also the words in English “Sultanate of Oman, Royal Omani Police, Motor Vehicle Licence”. This runs for one year. Though the registration document I left Oman with has expired, I have renewed from abroad and so have a current document (card). I also have two official translations of the card into English. Since, though, I got the translations at the time I left Oman (and they related to the registration document I then held, the date shown on both these translations has now passed.
My vehicle is in fact legal but I’m a little concerned that to the authorities in Argentina (and other South American countries), it might not appear legal.
I wondered about talking to the Argentine Embassy here in Germany and seeing what they say. Perhaps a translation of the card to Spanish would be a good idea.
What do you think about this situation? What would you advise?
Thanks.
