Riding without an official license in S. America
I am planning on buying a bike in Bolivia in the next few months and riding it down through Chile and potentially Argentina.
I have a British driving license but no form of motorbike paperwork, in fact I am having my first lessons here in Peru his week.
From research online I see that you can ride in most S.A countries with just your native license and heard I can blag the bike part, so I'm not too worried about that part. Mainly the problem is insurance, someone pointed out that any insurance I might have would be invalid if I didn't have a valid motorbike license. Seems like a massive waste of money to spend on insurance, just to use as paperwork when it wouldn't cover any problems should I run into them.
I'm hoping to hear some stories from other people who have travelled without a license and gotten around these problems or from anyone else who might happen to know something.
Don't really want to forge insurance papers but if it's my only option then that's fine.
Thanks
Nick
