Russian Kazakh visas
I'm in Krakow trying to get visas for travel through Russia and Kazakhstan
and will continue on into China ( yes we have all the paper work for China in
hand)
Now I'm being told by very experienced visa services tha both countries will only issue visas to me in my home country, USA
this goes against the other information I've read on this and other sites.
Is this a new rule or what.
I really need to get this sorted in the next couple of weeks or I will miss
the China permit.
Has anyone been issued visas for Russia and Kazahstan out side of thier
home countries, in the last month, and if so where.
What about going to Turkey and riding to Kyrgyz, from the South.
Will I be able to sort the visas in Istanbul or Ankara in a reasonable time.
Crossing into China in the second week of August.
thanks MAX

If one of those experienced visa services is StanTours...I'd believe it. They have a website and Google is your friend.
In 2007...
You can get Kazakh visa in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan...and Istanbul.
You can get the Russian visa along the way as well. I picked up mine in Tashkent....an LOI is needed beforehand and must come from a tour company/visa service.
I'm a US citizen as well.

Thanks Edde,
The info is from the agent who is handling, the visas for the group I plan to meet in Kazakhstan, As well as several of the group members all of whom
are well traveled western Asia.
Would you have any Idea how much time it will take to get the visas in Turkey. I assume an Uzbec transit, a Tajik double entry and a Kyrgyz
double entry.
What else will I need?

Not sure what to you tell you Max...I personally managed to acquire all my myself visas en route. The only time I used an agency was when an LOI was necessary...Russia and Uzbekistan.
Another useful English speaking forum would be the Thorntree...
Lastly, the HUBB(compared to ADVRider and other sites) has quite a bit of seasoned travelers who've been through that area...without their timely advice, i know my trip would have been infinitely more difficult.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
