Sudanese Fixers
Hi,
We had heard mixed reviews of the fixers 'helping' with the Aswan-Wadi Halfa ferry. Would people recommend Midhat? The last we heard from him was several months ago, and he hasn't replied to emails. Does anyone know the contact details for Magdi?
Many thanks

Hi,
We did not need a fixer to get our Visa in Cairo at the sudan embassy but we used the help from Mazar Mahier in wadi Halfar to get into the country and do the police registration.
We also stayed in his house (GPS N21°47'46.9" E031°22'50.7"). He asked me to publish his contacts so here they are: +2499-18335149, +249-122380740 mashansharti@yahoo.com Sudan Tour & Travel | Mashansharti bzw. 01217308855 or 0122262060 nubatia51@yahoo.com

When we got to Wadi Halfa we were determined NOT to use a fixer. (they will find you on the boat so don't worry about that.. Wadi Halfa is a SMALL place).
Once we got to the customs office, the official wouldn't deal with us, nor would anyone else. It seemed they are on the payroll of the fixers. They would only deal with the fixers.
Cost us about $30-$50 each for all the paperwork, unloaded, carnet stamps etc.
