Tanzanian bike - taking logbook with you
Hi,
I am currently in Tanzania looking to buy a locally registered bike to ride down to South Africa (and then potentially to London).
I have however read that the Tanzanian border control will seek to confiscate your logbook (ownership document) on the border when you leave, in order to stop you from selling it abroad. I have also read that you might be able to get around this by stating that you will return by a different border crossing and just generally 'fudging it'...
I would be uncomfortable leaving the logbook at the border given that I may well look to offload the bike eventually in London (or elsewhere).
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks
Stu
