Temporary import vehicle to Italy
I'm tempted to try for the ferry now running between Alexandria and Venice with my car. But the thought is that it is an Egyptian registered car and I'd be doing the trip the reverse of what most of you would.
I'd be entering Italy then travelling through France to Spain where I'd stay for two months, and then return.
My problem is the paperwork required to enter Italy, and then beyond. Initially it looks like I'd at least have to pay 1200 Usd as I get off the ferry in Venice for temporary import to Italy even though I'd be driving virtually straight out the country.
The other countries seem to say I can just drive in but only stay six months with it (which is fine).
Anyone know if this is right?
And anything else I should know?
I am an EU citizen but finding info to travel the reverse of what most do with a non EU registered vehicle is not so easy.
