USA and Mexico 2017
Hi All,
I'm doing a trip next year that involves the following plan:
Fly to the states, buy an oldish harley sportster, do the El Diablo run from California to baja mex and back to US. Then ride USA southern states to East coast (about 3ish weeks) then ride down into mex to mex city to work for 8 months. Then ride back up to usa New York to sell the bike - about 2 months. A year in total.
[I've ridden a harley throughout Europe and get the whole 'hell, you rode THAT on the transalpina?' So I'm used to a few 'funny looks'.

USA and Mexico 2017
My questions are: the best visas, med insurance and bike insurance? Looking at other posts I realise there isn't a one stop shop, but any advice is greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
I'm on a UK passport btw.

Hello
I'm new to this forum and have had a browse, but created an account to reply.
We drove down Baja in 2009 and then on through the rest of Mex.
You can usually arrange insurance at the mix border for Mexico, we got a decent deal with Qualitas that included a free recovery from anywhere in Mexico to a garage of our choice, up to 100 miles. And as sure as a Land Rover is a Land Rover, we broke down and used the service.
Qualitas are a decent company and now we live in Mex I always have my truck insurance through them.
Dunno about medical insurance. Probably best get something from the UK but watch the max days coverage.
Why you not continuing down through Baja and across onto the mainland and down, surely that's a more logical route, no?
Oh and watch for gas stations in Baja, there's a long run where there's no gas station for something like 200 miles.
Good luck!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
