USA - EPA Exemption for a foreign vehicle for one year - Leaving to Canda and then?
Hello,
I brought my bike from Germany into the USA by ship, had all paperwork well prepared, including EPA exemption to import my vehicle temporarily not longer then one year. Everything worked out nice and fine!
The year will be over in April, my tourist visa expires the same time and I intend to leave into Canada for another year. Checking out properly with EPA and make sure I get my exit stamps and so on. One year later I want to get back to the US, for a few months, and cross further into Mexico for going further south...
Who has experience with this situation? Can I reenter the US easily or do I have to expect problems at the boarder? Some people say the bike has to leave North-America, prefer the home country. If true, no idea how to handle and afford this...
Other people say, crossing by land they don't care about EPA and just check Passport and your registration from the home country. That's what it seemed to me riding up and back from Alaska by crossing Canada multiple times during this summer.
I appreciate any ideas, experience and suggestion!!
Have some great holidays!!
Alex
