What does it cost to get a permiso de internacion temporal in Chile?
I want to ship my KLR650 from San Francisco to San Antonio, Chile before Aug. 13th.
I had planned to apply for a permiso de internacion temporal for the bike in Chile and then head to Buenos Aires to join my girlfriend there and eventually riding back to the states from there.
I've got what I think is a pretty good shipping quote by sea ($730), but I haven't heard back from the agent on what Chile will charge me to bring the bike into the country.
What fees and how much should I expect to pay Chilean Customs?
Can somebody walk me through the temporary import process in Chile and Argentina?
I called another shipper today and he told me that I should expect to pay several thousand dollars. I can't afford that. I'm running out of time fast, and I'm worried that my dream is slipping away.
I appreciate any info offered.
Cheers,
Brett
