air freight, insurance
Hi,
I am a uk citizen working in kuwait.
I air freighted my GSA from Kuwait to Seattle via Amsterdam with Air France/KLM. They charged approx 1000GBP but it arrived within 3 days.
If you can get your bike to Amsterdam then I think you may find their charges very reasonable.
Once it reached Seattle I had it cleared through customs with the help of an agent(costing $150) and then put it straight onto an Air Alaska flight, and I also flew out that evening. The Air Alaska freight charge was approx $1500.
I chose to pay these air freight costs as time was of the essence for me.
Also perhaps consider Air Canada, It cost me $1300 from Toronto to Lodon Heathrow, and they were super efficient, and all i had to do was drop off my bike at their warehouse with only a small amount of fuel in the tank. No other draining of fluids required ( But ensure that the bike has been jet washed clean.) The bike was shipped out that evening.
I arranged insurance once i arrived in Seattle and used Progressive insurance Co. on line for a 12 month policy (still relatively cheap) and I gave the address of the motel I was staying at, and then collected my insurance documents when i passed back thru seattle a couple of weeks later.
I just had to give the bike's VIN number instead of any registration number
Hope this helps
H A
