Airfreighting from Malaysia to Australia
Hi, can anyone recommend an agent in Malaysia to airfreight my bike from Malaysia to Perth / Sydney/ Darwin.
Any idea on the cost would be a great help.
Many thanks. Simon

Hi Simon,
Last year I took Kuehne & Nagel, Kuala Lumpur to airfreight my bike to Perth. They accepted bike to go uncrated on Malaysian Air flight next day. Cost approx. US$1,000. I left for Perth. Bike did not arrive. Malaysian had not accepted uncrated bike. Crating cost me an additional US$600 plus various other charges. I felt ripped off and sent a letter of complaint to head office in Switzerland, but received no reply.
My suggestion: Drive out to Kuala Lumpur International Airport and shop around. Go to K&N and to other companies. Pick the best offer, and hope for the best. It will be much cheaper than shipping from Singapore. Good Luck!

Hi Simomandmags, Airfreight is a better bet than by sea. As suggested go out to the airport and check with the airlines and shippers there. Last Jan/Feb we shipped our bike along with two German freinds by sea from KL to Perth and were charged an extra $500 each to get our bikes unloaded in Perth... You will have to get a dangerous goods form filled out and disconnect and tape the battery terminals, and only leave about a quarter tank of fuel. Most airlines will fly the bike without crating, but some may want to put it on a pallet... and dont forget to clean it thuroughly as aussie customs dont want to import any foreign bugs or dirt. Cheers and Good Luck Cameron

Hi Simon and welcome to the HUBB!
Lots of info on this route in the Shipments page (see left menu under Trip Planning / Getting There). Here are links for both air and sea shipments:
Kuala Lumpur to Darwin
Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne
Kuala Lumpur to Sydney
Kuala Lumpur to Perth
Lucas Yap of Freight Logistics Corporation in KL has been recommended by travellers - his contact details are on the KL-Melbourne shipment.
You can also try Multimodal Freight - contact details are at the KL-Perth link.
Good luck, and please fill in the Shipping Info Submission form when you have done your shipment, for the benefit of future travellers.
