Bike Crates availalbe in Athens May 31st 2010
Hi all,
my friend and I will be starting a trip in Athens on June 1st, heading to Mongolia via Central Asia.
Our bikes are on a ship to Athens now from Hong Kong. We have two original Suzuki bike shipping crates for anyone that wants to have them. We plan (assuming the wharfies aren't all on strike!) to pick the bikes up at Piraeus harbour on Monday, May 31st.
They were originally used to ship GSX600s from Japan to HK. Great construction, basically sturdy steel cages, that are bolted together with a cardboard cover, really easy to assemble/disassemble, simpler than building a wood one.
Dimensions are 222cm (L) x 79cm (W) x 111cm (H) so roughly 2 cbm. The crates weigh about 35kg.
You should be able to get most street bikes in there no problem, we're shipping a Suzie GN250 and a Honda FTR223 for our trip, only had to remove the handlebars on both, not the wheels.
drop me a line, if you're interested you can meet us at the port. free of course, or a cold in the local taverna
Nico
