Cheapest option Malaysia to Aus

Hi guys
I'm currently in KL investigating cheapest sea freight options to Aus. All of the contacts and details in the shipping section seem to no longer be active. If there's an option as cheap and easy as Darwin > Dili id be over the moon. I have no issue with where in Aus or how long it takes. Just the absolute cheapest option. :P

Cheers

Nick

You´re sending a bike or a car?

I think at least a few years ago that Dili-Darwin shipping route (Perkins) was actually Singapore-Dili-Darwin, so that could be worth checking out?
Getting your foreign vehicle to Singapore doesn´t really make sense for just getting to ride around there, as importing there is a bit of a pain, but for an easy shipping, maybe it´s worth it. If not, then I´d find out about shipping by sea from Port Klang, Malaysia.

If it´s a bike, I´d also ask the freight agents about Malaysian Airlines (MASKargo), as they seem to have competitive pricing on airfreight. I once sent my bike from Chennai to Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur with them, and they did the job really fine (it cost me about 600 euros total for a DL650 on an open crate, January -08).

Hey Nic,

What did you end up deciding for then cheapest and best way to ship from SE Asia to Australia?

I'm currently in Malaysia and looking to ship back to Brisbane preferably from Bangkok.

Anything you learned through your experience would be very helpful I'm sure.

Cheers mate

Tim Brooks of SIAM Motor World, email tim@siammotorworld.com is a very helpful guy with good contacts. He helped me with mechanical problems I had with my van last month. He is also going to ship my van to Australia.

Regards

Trevor

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
