Dili - Darwin June 2014
Hello folks;
Made it to Dili. Final push now to get the bike on a boat.. so our last resort will be Toll (Perkins old name). We went to SDV who are agents to Swire and they have a boat on the 9-11th of June. They already have 2 containers full (of other goods, coffee, Ozzie embassy goods etc etc). The 3rd container needs filling.. so there is one other customer (with stuff) and our motorbike so if there is another bike the price goes down. Their shipment cost is more tan Toll @ 140USD per/m3 and min 4m3space but it can be shared so it'll be cheaper. If this container isn't full the next boat is the 23rd of June.
The crucial difference is Toll's boats don't always stop at the claimed dates and these ones we are told do stop in Dili. They mix the container loads and do LCL (less than container load) so they don't seem to mess around like Toll, hence their higher prices per cubic metre.
From conversations we had with them they seem to be more reliable and don't claim their schedule will change without notice.. as long as the container is full it goes do Darwin. We are also going to find Troy of Timor Stevedores and see if he can do shipping and how much it is. I know for a fact that a Toll boat went on the 26th so who knows when the next one will stop...
Just drop a line below anyways if you are in Dili or headed this way in a day or two. We are going to leave town for a bit to see the country a bit. Will be back in DIli on the 2nd and start cleaning the bike to load. We haven't agreed anything with SDV yet..
Will update anyways.
