Driving my Yamaha XT 660r (2007) from Cape Town to Dares Salaam/ Zanzibar
Hey community,
is anyone interested in driving my Yamaha from Cape Town to Zanzibar? Myself have just done this amazing overland trip from August - September in 2016. The original plan was to drive the bike back over Mozambique into Tanzania, but since I had some personal issues I had to fly earlier back to Germany.
The bike is fully serviced and all paper are in order. It is registered in Tanzania (in my name). Therefore, crossing any boarder within Africa shouldn’t be a problem as long you have a letter of me, saying you are allowed to use the bike and what borders you are allowed to cross.
The bike has to leave South Africa by the latest 2nd of March. There is no real date the bike has to arrive in Dares Salaam…, you can take your time. Since the shipping from Dar - Zanzibar (where I am resident) is quite complicated I would take care of it. The only thing you would have to do is deliver the Yamaha to the harbor and hand over all paper. In case you want to use it in Zanzibar too, feel free and I could put you in contact with loads of people who would be happy to show you around.
The overland trip from Zanzibar to Cape Town was mind blowing and it is defiantly something very worth to do! I would be very happy if someone could help me out and I will promise you will have the time of you life. In the two month traveling I didn’t had a single issue excepts my sprocket died (because you don’t get any proper spares on Zanzibar).
The bikes comes fully serviced (by a Yamaha workshop), with back racks, brand new sprocket & o-ring chain (all original), and a pump + tubes.
Looking forward,
David
