Ferry from Europe to Egypt

Hi
My husband and I have been traveling by small car in Russia and Central Asia, now.
We are looking for a car ferry from somewhere in Europe to Egypt. From Turkey or Greece is better, but anywhere is OK.

Anybody has experienced that route lately?

Or should we get a ferry to Israel?
Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Yuko

Thank you for the advice, Mike.
It’s too bad that there is no ferry to Egypt. It seems hard to drive from Israel to Cairo via Sinai.
I’ll try to research and think about it.

Hi Yuko !

unfortunately I have to make this painful experience now.
I stuck in Erzurum firmly (near the border with Iran).
I really wanted to Sudan by Turkey by ferry to Egypt, and then ahead.
But unfortunately there is nothing to do.
And then I wanted an alternative through Iran.
But I do not have a carnet, which is also extremely difficult.

There is only one RoRo connection from Greece. But costs only for my bike already € 400

if you know what you have experienced new, it last me know.

regards

Johannes

Hi Johannes!

Your situation sounds like very hard.
I’ll post when I get something new.

It’s good news for us if a ferry going to Egypt exists in Greece. Please let me know the company’s name, if you know.
We are currently in Kazakhstan, and want to find a route until we arrive in Turkey.

Have a good trip

Merhaba Yuko,

1-Bad news...Things change so fast in mideast and go to worse conditions. nomore connections between turkey and egypt yet...

2-Current situation...From time to time, there are cargo ships from pireus to alexandria..you must fly to egypt separately..you can face with big surprises for clearing customs in egypt...Fixer is a must for paperwork..

3-Good news...All credit and thanks go to Mike who has done this 3-4 weeks ago and explained here a while ago...

Here is the link to his thread with many details..
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...ce-egypt-83712

All the best...

perfect, I just wanted to respond to you, but now Mehmet has come me before.
Exactly on the same link, I wanted to refer to.
That's the only way, from Europe direct to Egypt.
As I already have written to Mehmet and you, i'm (and my bike) here in Turkey stuck, and do not get ahead.(actually not so bad, is indeed also very beautiful here)
So I'm also looking for a compound according to Egypt.
I give to you here, also the address from Grimaldi for this connection:

Office Izmir:

Tel : (+90 232) 4118013
Fax : (+90 232) 4633360

Office Piraeus:

Τel. 0030 – 210 – 4145720
e-mail :grimaldi.ccrr.pir@minoan.gr
And the Address from the shipping agency Kapa International Ltd.
And what they have written to me, about the departure times
Quote:
Yes by roro way and you have to flight from Athens to Alexandria

Kindly note that sailing schedule from Piraeus to Alexandria is approximately every 8-10 days and in order to arrange booking we need copy of the motorcycle registration by email one week before vessel’s arrival at Piraeus port.

Best regards,

Despina Sidiropoulou

Kapa International Ltd

Tel:211 0120755 Fax:211 0133232

E-mail: sales@kapa-forwarders.gr

Kapa-Forwarders.gr Ro RO Machinery Transportation
But i thing that will probably be the same ferry.
Of which I have already bid for the transport of my bike:
Quote:
Kindly note that in order to arrange the transportation of your motorcycle from Piraeus port to Alexandria port in Egypt the cost is Euro 400,00 including ocean freight, Piraeus local expenses and customs clearance.

Also note that is very important when you will pass for the Greek customs in border "KIPOI" to issue T1 document where must mentioned that the Greek export customs is the GR004006 in Piraeus port.

Best regards,

Despina Sidiropoulou

Kapa International Ltd
If you have something new, please let me know that.
I am still waiting for an offer, from the office in Izmir

Good morning Yuko.

Now after many requests at different agencies, I have good news for you.
Even if it is very confusing, but ultimately there is still the possibility of a Roro from Turkey.
I hope that I have understood really correct.

It's the same ship which invests (stopover) in Izmir, after the departure of Piraeus/Greece (after 12 hours) again.
And from there goes on to Alexandria.
.
So I'll give you a part of the email with to:
Quote:
We kindly inform you that Grimaldi vessels call only Alexandria old port.
No matter from where your motorbike will be loaded.
Same vessel that calls Piraeus port after 12 hours calls Izmir and after few days
Call Alexandria port.

Remain at your disposal for any further info and/or clarification
That you might need.

Hopefully that can help for the first time

All prices refer to my bike.
I find it quite expensive, which have paid Shipping Cars from Greece to Egypt – Part One | 4-wheel-nomads compared:
Quote:
The total costs were 116,85€ for the service at Minoan Lines and another 309,00€ for the shipping (sea freight: 307,00 € per van; stamp b/l : 2,00€ per shipment; free in: 95,00€ + VAT per van under 3to (over 3to the cost of driving the car up the ship is 235 + VAT))
If your knows more, please tell me.

Regards
Johannes

@Mehmet
Yes, you are so right.
At Adana and the coast, there are still so 24 degrees.
Here it is already minus 3 degrees at night. So ne cold affair.

Otherwise I believed Yesterday night, I would have a great idea.

I just need someone who bring my bike back to Germany.(ridding or otherwise)
I could unsubscribe for admission, and leave the bike normal shippers as cargo from Germany - Sudan.
So a box of about 1 cubic meter, will cost from northern Germany just 150-200€ to Port Sudan.
Did you mean what I shoud open a new thread in hub?

regards

I meant better you open a thread to get recommended names and addresses if you are planning to keep your bike parking in bulgaria or georgia..
I know only motosapiens in idilevo-bulgaria run by Doug,Polly and İvo if that helps..

All the best.

Hi Johannes and Mehmet

I really appreciate you two of information and advice!!

Shipping from Piraeus or Izmir is possible, isn’t it? And we have to fly to Egypt separately…OK, I’ll research more and detail.

On the other hand, I’ll research if there is a ferry going to East Africa from Arabian Peninsula or Iran.

Now, I am so busy thinking about the route to Turkey through Central Asia. It’s really complicated how to get visa each country.

Thanks a lot
Yuko
