ferry needed across black sea

Hi everyone, First post so be gentle with me. Two of my good friends one I am sure will be known on here (BDG) are travelling from Manchester to Mongolia. and have come across their first problem they cannot cross Georgia when planned as it is flooded. Plan B is a ferry from maybe Istanbul or Bulgaria to Sochi. I have had a look and can only find Trabzon across but speaking to a ferry operator this does not start for another month??? Anyone any ideas please .

Might not be much help but how about Turkey - Iran - Turkmenistan and onwards east?
I met some cyclist in Trabzon who had got a ferry from Ukraine to Trabzon but that was September time...

I'm just trying to figure out what they're trying to achieve with a ferry to Sochi, which still won't get them through Georgia? They can easily ride from Istanbul or Bulgaria to Sochi without a ferry and without crossing Georgia, so what good does a ferry do?

Where are they trying to go, and from where? I think there are ferries from Sochi to Trabzon, which would get them past Georgia, is that what they're after?

There is definitely a ferry accross the black sea. I read a blog a few weeks ago with cyclist crossing. I will fry and find the info again. They crossed from west to east. Think it took about 2 days

Thanks guys, we're in Tblisi now awaiting our transit visa through Azerbaijan. A ferry was just an option with Kazbegi crossing being closed due to the landslide and trying to avaoid the delay getting the transit visa

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
