Have you checked the HU Shipping database?

Shipping Your Bike information here:
Shipping the bike | Horizons Unlimited

There's loads of info there on shipments travellers have
previously done.

Be VERY careful with shipping by sea - the arrival port charges are rarely disclosed by the company you ship with, largely because it's not their problem and they don't know - or care!

I freighted by sea to Cape Town two years ago ( details are on the link Grant put above) and it cost several hundred US dollars to get the bike, out. It all worked fine but, as Grant says, always beware that you will have to pay at the other end. This isn't the case with flying.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
