from Australia to New Zealand
The posts I found about this are pretty old. I'm wondering if there's something new. I'd like to go from Sydney or Melbourne to Christchurch or Auckland. My Aussie visa expires on Jan. 14. I plan on going to Japan end of March to teach English for a year to pay for Southeast Asia and Europe.
I can clean it and crate it, but I'm looking for the cheapest way of getting it there. I think air would be best.
I'm rolling the dice on this. My dad just had a minor stroke in the States and I might have to return for a bit. Won't know until they've done more tests. I think I can get a helpful Kiwi to pick up and store the bike in Christchurch until I return if I have to go back to the US.

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your day, hope he gets better soon!
RE Shipping - there are 9 Aus - NZ shipments listed in the Shipments by Travellers section of the site, 3 of them in the last 2 years. In theory everything is all there - if anyone has any other shipments info that they have done, it should be posted there.

There is a guy, Dave Milligan, working out of Melbourne, that organised containers full of bikes between Aus and NZ.
The company is called Get Routed and has a web site. cant remember what it is but try WWW.getrouted and go from there.

There is a weekly ship to NZ from melbourne. Bob and Danielle just shipped there GS for a total of 585 NZ dollars with Linfox. It takes about 7 days. If you need a crate they are pretty easy to organise in Melbourne. I believe this is the same company Dave Milligan uses.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
