how to get my bike to CUBA?
I rode around Central America and South America last winter and now I want to get me and my bike to Cuba. I am looking for all options including flying from Nova Scotia, Canada where I live. Also open to shipping from US (with embargo?), Mexico and other countries further south if necessary.
I want to ride in Cuba for a month and then ship my bike out again. While there I will find my own accommodations (have been to Cuba many times and it is ideal for motorcycling).
Cheers
Larry

Cuba
Hi Larry,
Wow! It's been many years since you posted, but I'm hoping you are still lurking here and will see my response.
I would like to ride a motorcycle around Cuba; either rent one or ship mine there.
Were you able to ship your motorcycle there? Do you have any information about shipping or renting a motorcycle in/to Cuba.
I'm hoping you see this post and respond.

Larry will probably see this post sooner or later (sending him a private message wouldn't hurt) and respond. In the meantime, if you Google Stahlratte you'll see that they're scheduled to transport people and motorcycles from Cartagena to Cuba then onwards to Mexico next January/February.
As far as I know there are no motorcycle rentals in Cuba. Mopeds and scooters, yes. There is at least one expensive tour agency, and I've heard there's another in the works or on the ground.
"Throttlemeister" took a bike there by Stahlratte a few years back, and he posted an endless trip report. I forget whether he's here on the HUBB, but he's on ADVrider so you could always contact him over there.
Hope that helps.

Yes, The Harley Davidson Club of Cuba (Club de Motos Clásicas de Cuba - MOCLA) has recently started organizing tours on their 50 y/o Harleys. Taylor made: want a 1 day or 15 day tour, solo or a bigger group, they arrange it. And the support vehicle if needed is of course a Cadillac, Oldsmobile and the like. Not a foreign company, but local Cubans passionate about Harleys who kept them running all this time (and rebores)! Two brothers and members of the club (Luis and Carlos) were in the HU Germany Summer Meeting this year. They had come to Europe to promote the tours (and shop tools for reboring and more, no kidding) and they were extremely nice, friendly and amazing bush mechanics. No doubt, anyone would have big fun with them, all who attended the Meeting and saw the tire change by Luis could confirm it!
In case someone is interested, here you have their e-mails: luismocla (arroba en español) yahoo (punto) es and karloskuba74 (at in Spanish) yahoo (dot) es
Esteban
PS: Apart from more authentic, we were told they were also much cheaper than a foreign company.

Looks like Moto Discovery is lining up some organized tours legally or you can take the German boat aka SteelRat up from Cartagena. Hell of a place to ride your own moto
Endless?? Some people just ride the Americas + some Caribbean for longer than a few months, what can I say
I got lots more coming from SA, I'm on hiatus while my bike waits it out in Venezeula which isn't too bad either with their gas prices.

"Endless" was the word which came to mind at the time, what can I say? Your trip report was a great read--all 352 pages and thirty three thousand photos of it. "Exuberant" would be another obvious word choice. Or irrepressible, or ebullient. I'm counting on more of the same once they finish bolting you back together.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
