www.motorbikemovers.org.uk
well guys,
I used man with the van ( www.motorbikemovers.org.uk, John Beggs) for London to Malaga transporting our bikes (3) late december returning early january..
we too, didn't want to "waste" 3-4 days riding around france / spain in the middle of winter, in order to get to marocco plus we didn't want to carry all the extra layers of winter bike gear ...
I think getting the bikes to southern spain in a van and flying there to meet them is the best way if you want to spend more time in morocco and less time getting there.
Although having 3-4 bikes squeezed in the van may mean a few additional scratches - it didn't worry me.
we paid GBP 225.00 each bike each way London to Malaga

1 company seems okay already......
I spoke to a couple of firms today. One usually transports cars to Spain and wanted about £400 door-to-door(per bike).
No thanks
Another i spoke to was purely a haulage/removal agent. They were much more helpful. I based my quote on four enduro type bikes individually crated in boxes 1800x1000x400. This needs the wheels and bars removing, but its not that much of a hassle. You could pack them all into one crate to make it even smaller. I estimated 200kgs per crate, which should be reasonable for a 130kg bike plus a few bits of kit and the crate itself.
They quoted £398+vat for Leeds to Malaga(actually their depot nearby) and £476+vat for the return leg. This was for ALL 4 bikes and the pick up from an address in Leeds. There are weekly services on tuesday and Friday
I spoke to a chap called Dave Fisk at Universal Express in Felixstowe( (01394) 282867).
I don't mind the hassle of crating bikes if it means i can save a few quid. This price didnt include the crates or a small storage fee at the depot, of which there was talk of a tenner a week.
Any other ideas?

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
