Permanent relocation UK to US (Cal)
Hi everyone,
after taking my trusty CX to the far corners of Europe from the UK (Turkey & Portual) and breaking down on either attempt, I'll now move to the US.
I have been looking at the shipping options listed around HU, and couldn't find any specific stories for a permanent import of that kind. My Honda CX is obviously over 30 years old, so I should be fine with importing it to California.
If I'm going with the Air Canada deal:
Upside: fun road trip down from Vancouver to California
Downside: I'd have to deal with the paperwork at the Can/US border. Does anybody have any experiences on 'permanently importing' your own bike across the border as a non-US (EU) citizen?
If I'm going with one of the other air shipment options:
Would anyone know how much flexibility there usually is with keeping the bike in storage either in the UK or at the destination before I will pick it up, or even delivery to an address? I'm fairly certain I don't want to spend my last day in the UK faffing around at Heathrow, while Murphy will make sure that something else goes horribly wrong with the move of the other household bits...
Thanks & all the best,
Wolfgang
