Repatriation to UK from Spain
Dear All. Please help if you can. The unthinkable has happened. We have just had a massive off having been caught out by high wind on our way back from Morocco. We are 1 hr north of Seville. We are shaken, ok and out of hospital and talking with insurance but facing a potential nightmare with the bike as it is only worth circa 2.5-3k being an 09 1000cc Vstrom and may be written off instead of repatriated.
I would be devastated if this happens as the bike was well protected by crash bars and panniers and is a cheap and easy fix. I cant bear the thought of losing a well loved and maintained machine.
Does anyone have experience or contacts with independant repatriation services and if so please can you message me with reccomendations or contact details?
Apologies I have not searched the forum for previous discussions as I am pretty strung out. I hope you can help and look forward to hearing from you.
Feel free to reply, private message or email directly. bradfan@gmail.com
Thanks all.
Braddan.

Find a bike shop and arrange long term storage of the bike until you can get your heads straight and arrange some kind of transport.
Motofreight do all sorts of Continental transport too.

From what I understand it will have to be repatriated to be written off as a certificate of destruction is required, it might be possible for your insurance company to get one from Spain but sounds unlikely, they might be spinning you a yarn to avoid having to pay for repatriation so I would speak to them and any breakdown company you have a policy with again before paying yourself.

Consider paying a friend to go pick it up, it should be possible to fly out on the Friday night and be back by Sunday night. Even paying their costs it should be pretty cheap.

Better alternative
Perhaps you should contact Motorcycle Shipping, Transport and Freight
They actually have paid for an ad on horizonsunlimited.com. and I bet they
will be a good bet.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
