Shipping agent needed from Panama to Durban South Africa,
Hi, after having spent a month in Colombia being messed about by a crap shipping agent we have decided to head for Panama and try our luck there.
Can anybody recomend a shipper in Panama who can deal with the shipping to South Africa.
Thanks in advance Pete n Brucella

Jabez,
You could try this guy based in Panama: director@lmt-corp.com
Yadira Almengor
Ofc. (507) 302-6416
Cel. (507) 6716-3560
www.lmt-corp.com
I emailed him earlier this year about shipping a BMW 1200GS from Panama to Cape Town. He said it was possible and came back with this:
If we calculate 225/ X 3cbm= $675.00 + additional charges. ( we have to verify the status of shipment to identify which other charges may raised besides the given ones)
The validity referring to the rate validity, as this may change based on peak season or any carrier increment.
Services can be done the year around.
The problem is it could take 2-3 months.
I haven't actually used him (yet). I'm currently in Mexico and am now thinking I'll fly from Panama to Venezuela and go vis the Guyanas to Brazil then Buenos Aires and fly to South Africa from there. Just as fast and much more exciting!
Good luck
Dom

Ho Hum!!!!!
Dom, dont bother with that shipper mate, yes the costs seem reasonable untill the extras you mention appear, they include $900 to crate the bikes and $ 550 to get the bikes to Colon,
Taking the quote to $3850 , OUCH!!!!!
Were extending our trip and riding up to the US, Where we hope to get a more reasonable rate,
Shit, whats a few more countries, hehehe

That's $3800 for two bikes though isn't it? Not cheap but it looks like it would cost my $2000 to ship from Panama to UK. And it's $900 to fly Panama Colombia so either way it's gonna cost me....

Update
Hi mate, after some intense discussion, we have got the price down to less than $3000 for both bikes and as of yesterday the bikes are at the craters.
We await our paperwork so we can leave Panama, oh by the way Yadira is a woman, I got my wife to do all the talking it seemed to work out better.
I just hope the quote is a firm price, she said it was!!!!!!! as they have the bikes now.
I,ll keep you informed, maybe we can have a in Africa
Happy Christmas
