BKK to ??

I would also be interested if anyone has any info on this ... preferably flying the bike out, I can imagine port charges in Europe/UK would be extortionate!
We are looking at maybe getting to Turkey and riding back from there.
Currently we are in Malaysia near to KL, not sure if we are going to do any more of SE Asia or just call it quits and head home.
Thanks
Kev & Lorraine

Trans Air Cargo Co.,Ltd.

Try contact Trans Air Cargo (Kittima if she's still there (Kittima - Coutersales 'kittima @ transaircargo.com'), I used them from B'kok to Kathmandu. Longest part was getting the Dangerous Goods Cert but got the ball rolling via email while I was in the north. They also built the crate for me (and kept my remaining fuel..).

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the contact, I'll check them out. Do you remember what the costs were?

It's based on actual weight or volume, whichever is the higher so will all depend on the bike you have. They couldn't have made the crate any smaller (took front wheel, mirrors/screen off, loosened handlebars etc). Sure it was around £500 but would need to check notes again.

See blog post for more details:
http://www.singapore-scotland.blogsp...f-bangkok.html

On arrival in Kathmandu, I got the crate put in a corner and me and 25 or so locals quietly got on with the task of putting it back together again

Malaysian airlines

HI!

Try to contact Malaysia airlines! They will take your bikes into the passenger plane and no need to put them in crates, just disconect the battery and 1/4 full tank !
So you don't need an pakking agent. Contact malaysian air cargo at the airport. From Kuala lumpur to Amsterdam it was about 1900 euro for +_ 500 kg (1 transalp, 1africa twin)

Good luck!

TAC so far so good..

Thanks for the lead on Kittima Mike!

They may be the first freight forwarders that I've ever had respond back promptly to an e-mail. Kittima gave me the two calculations and then I just looked up the dimensions for our bikes to calculate the approximate costs.

We're planning to ship out of Bangkok towards the middle/end of March. According to your blog (Mike) it took you a couple of weeks to get the whole thing sorted. We'll try to make allowances for that so that's a good tip too. We'll let you know how it all works out and update the database.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
