Shipping bike and myself from South Korea to Thailand or Cambodia
Hello everyone,
I am new here and I apologize if this topic has already been discussed but I couldn't find any post on it.
I traveled from Italy to Mongolia where I have got stuck due to the impossibility to obtain a Chinese transit Visa. My last destination is Laos where I work and reside. After having wasted almost 3 weeks in Ulaanbataar and heard the most awful stories about visas denied by the Chinese Embassy I decided to drop the bike in Mongolia for the winter (need to work in August) and keep on traveling next summer via Vladivostock, South Korea, Cambodia or Thailand to finally reach Laos. Does anybody have experience in this route? Especially the stretch South Korea-Thailand or eventually Cambodia. I need to travel myself too and ideally I would accompany the bike, not sure though this would avoid custom's fees. I shipped twice during the past years a BMW 1200GS from Italy to Thailand and I paid about 800$ of custom's clearance (Fair&Easy, Bangkok). I guess the process doesn't apply if someone travels with the bike, such as on a ferry ship.
Thanks a lot and good trip to everybody,
Nicola Magnaghi
