Shipping Bike UK to India.
Hi Guys,
Anyone know of a good freight company in the UK that can ship a bike to India. I live in Australia but want to start the trip form S India. I'll fly back to the UK, buy a bike and have it shipped. Store it in India for a few weeks and fly back meeting it. The logic is, Bikes in Australia are stupidly expensive and I have a bike to play with in the UK when I get there. Also how hard is it to get a carnet sorted in the UK. I'm imagining its relatively easy..
Thanks if anyone can send me an email.
Cheers.

Hi
I take you're looking at air freight? James Cargo seem to be one of the preferred companies to ship out of the UK. Which way are you riding then, back to OZ or UK?
I follow your theory but reckon if you're heading for Oz you'd do better to fly an Aussie bike to India otherwise you'll have hassle getting it fully imported into Oz (Canberra import forms etc). All paperwork is easier if you, your passport and the bike papers are from the same country. Trust me, been there, done that (twice).
Need a bit more info to really know what's best but think it may be better to hunt around in Oz for a bargain. Not after a nice KTM990S are you?
Cheers, best of luck

Thanks for getting back to me,
Sorry, I didn't make it very clear, I'm actually driving back to the UK from India and not planning to take the bike to Australia.
Thanks for the heads up though and I will get in touch with your suggestion.
PS there are no bargains in Australia when it comes to Triumph tiger explorers.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
