Shipping companies from Eu to SA?

Hello fellow travelers.

Me and couple of friends are planning a TransAfrican trip from Cape Town to Tunisia via Zambia, Tanzania, Etiopia...

I did try to search the forum for the shipping companies but with no success.

Does anybody know a tried and tested company which could deliver 4 Defenders and two bikes to SA from anywhere in Europe?

Any help greatly welcomed

Thank you

Shipping to SA

Hi there

Did some research myself - this is what I found with one firm:........

Freight rates for the movement of a 20' s.t.c. motor vehicle :

Packing & lashing of vehicle at HG Rent, Barking GBP 150
Haulage ex Barking to Tilbury GBP 212
Documentation GBP 25
Customs GBP 35
Seafreight Tilbury - Walvis Bay USD 1 650
Seafreight Tilbury - Cape Town or Durban USD 1 150
BAF, currently USD 405

Remarks
Surcharges applicable at time of shipment
Door Height of a 20' 2.33 cm
Door Width of a 20' 2.35 cm
Packing and lashing at Owners Risk
Above costs do not include any charges in Southern Africa.

Trust the above rates are of assistance.

Thank you chickcharnie for the fast reply.
Sounds as a good price to SA.
Do you know how long does it take for the company to make the crossing?
Also, I'm not sure what the BAF charges are.

We will be setting off from Prague, CZ and Uk is quite a distance from there.
Does anybody know any Germany, or Holland based company?

Thanks again

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
