Shipping Crate and Fumigation Certificate.
We are attempting to arrange having two crates built and stored for us in Nairobi. As we don't want to spend more time than absolutely necesary in this city, we want most of our shipping issues prearranged.
We wrote to AGS FRASERS KENYA and asked for a quote. Their reply was $350 for each crate and $50 for a fumigation certificate. I have no idea if that includes storage for a few days, but i bet that would add another million or two to the total price. They also said that it would take them approximatley two weeks to get the crates and the fumigation certificate ready. It seems to me I should almost be able to have a nice little house built for this price. I'm now considering opening a crating business in Kenya.
Please provide comments about the crating prices, the fumigation certificate, and the time to get things done. There must be a better way at lower prices?
We were thinking of using DHL to ship our bikes by Plane to Norway. Anybody know if a crate is absolutely necessary?
Their email also stated: "The ONLY FIDI FAIM moving company in Kenya !" Whatever does that mean? FIDI FAIM?
Any comments appreciated.
