Shipping From kazakhstan to India?

Hi...

Been searching for some info on shipping my bike by any means from anywhere in kazakhstan to anywhere in india... At the moment the shipping searcher on the left is temporary out of action so any info would be greatly appreciated. Also any opinions on whether this is a stupid or easy/hard thing to do etc.

Thanks for your time

Kind regards

Andy

almaty to delhi

hello there,

maybe my information is a bit old, but thought I post it anyway.

I used in May 2000 Air Kazakhstan to fly my bike from Delhi to Almaty. I could fly in the same airplane, it was quite cheap in India appr. 300 usd all incl. Biggest problem was to get thru customs in Almaty, took five days and 500 usd (storage, agent fees, translator fee and a bribe of 100 us)

just go to the Air Kazakh office in Almaty and ask.

get a carnet before you arrive in India.

good luck

greetings from Cape Town

mika

Kyrgyz, Tadjick and Uzbekistani airlines will be cheaper.

I flew from Bishkek to Delhi with my bike about two years ago on an airline, Galaxy air, no one has managed to trace back since, so I assume they no longer fly or have changed their name.
Kazakhstan its expensive. Air Kazakhstan is a partner of BA and run by Britons, quiet a good airline but not cheap. Customs in almaty and everything bureaucratic in Kazakhstan normally includes hidden fees (take that with a pinch of salt).
Manas Airport it's just outside Bishkek, a few hour from Almaty and a very easy and pleasant ride on one of the best roads in the region.
I think it'll be cheaper for you checking out Kyrgyz, Tadjik, Uzbek airlines and maybe (i don't know if the do fly there,) Pakistani and Indian Lines.
Good luck with it.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
