Shipping from montreal to portugal or france ?
Hi everybody.
Does anyones have experience with clearing customs at lisbon airport ?
I have the same price from air transat if i ship anywhere in europe.(actually heading to morroco but since i've never been to portugal i thought Lisbon would be a option but can't find any info on it...
I've seen a thread where shipping to paris from canada seems to be quite easy but couldn't find anything on lisbon.
Thanks for your help

Hi Etienne:
I've shipped from Toronto and Montreal into France (Paris CDG) many times, and as you note, it has been very trouble-free.
I can't imagine that the Portuguese would be any different. In Europe, they are used to vehicles from all sorts of different countries entering their specific country - it's not a big deal at all. Just make sure you have valid European insurance (the famous 'green card') when you show up at customs to clear the bike.
I made a post earlier today at this discussion Shipping from USA that provides additional information about the process if you are shipping with Air Transat (my favorite motorcycle carrier).

Lisbon
Hey,
In '08 I met a riding buddy who flew his bike from the US into Lisbon, Portugal. A DR650. From arriving to departing it took less than 2 hours and included taking the bike off the pallet, putting on the front wheel, reconnecting the battery and riding it away. There was enough fuel to get to a gas station.
Although he did all the paperwork as I waited I didn't see he had any difficulty. His blog is Ride Far | Mark Hammond and I'm sure it'll be on it.
Hope this helps.

That's pretty good, I don't think you are going to find a better price than that anywhere.
When you make your budget, reserve about $200 for miscellaneous handling charges that you will have to pay to the freight people at the port of arrival (Lisbon) - those charges cannot be escaped and will be present anywhere you ship the bike by air.
