South europe or Africa-South America
Sometime around november/december I want to go from south of europe or from one of the north african countries by boat or air to South America. We are two persons with a BMW 1150. Money is more an issue than time. We have time but less money. Anyone done this trip before. I am delighted to get any information about this. Thanks!

Niclas,
Have a search on the shipping page, there are several people who have freighted their bikes from both Europe and Africa to South America.

I wish you luck.
If you have the time I highly suggest you look around for a company OTHER THAN HELLMAN. I got screwed by them and many others have as well so I do not recommend them.
If you do find another company PLEASE post the company you fly with on the Horizon site and do other travelers a favor by providing us with a better company.
Good luck,

Hi, I will be going with Grimaldi Lines from Belgium to BsAs this september. Have done it before with them and it's great! It is a RoRo ship so no crate needed and you drive the bike on board yourself. As i will be travelling alone the cabin is 40%more expensive for a solo occupant, i.e €1700 instead of 1250 pp when 2, and another 300 or so less when sharing with 3.
I am taking a car(€600, a bike is about 200 only) and no fuss when arriving in argentina as it is handluggage!!
Write me ( marcelkersten@zonnet.nl) when you are interested in sharing the cabin.(just the cabin yes!!)
cheers,
Marcel

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
