Timor 2 Oz...
hello,
I have contacted every address I've found on this forums shipping pages, but this time they havent brought the solution.
Trying to cut a long story short:
did the stupid thing & entered Indonesia taking the 30-day Visa-on-arrival (should've got the 60-day one instead). Now running out of time.
In Bali now, looking for ways to get bike to Australia. Preferably Darwin, but Perth could do as well.
Seafreight would be ok cost-wise, but would take up to 1 month, dont have that much time, so must forget about that. No smaller boats going that far, either.
By air also possible, but horribly expensive, we're looking at somewhere around 2000 usd total, to get it from here to Darwin (and thats only the bike, our flight tickets would be extra!)
The "last straw" would be to go to Timor, and find out, if theres something to be found (by sea or by air) from Kupang, or elsewhere in West Timor.
Problem is, they only know whats going from their nearest harbour or airport here, and have no idea, whether or not one can ship from Kupang. Even if theres somebody having some info here, I'm not sure if it can be trusted, as in Indonesia, there always seem to be as many answers, as the amount of people you ask from!
Right now, with the unstable situation, curfew and all, I dont think I want to go to East Timor; that means the Perkins cargo-route is out of the question, which is a shame, as it would otherwise seem quite okay.
I need to make up my mind in around 1-2 days: take the real expensive freight from Bali, or take my chances, and go find out, whats there in Kupang (then my visa will probably run out anyway, so I will have to figure out how to extend it, or risk paying fines).
Any relatively recent experiences about shipping from Timor would be worth their weight in gold right now!!
