No personal experience... But my friend sent a 1200GS from London to BA at the end of 2010, and I think he said he payed about 1500 euros (freighted by British Airways). It wasn't trouble-free at the receiving end, where he ended up using some agent (took several days to get the bike out of the airport), so I think that probably cost him something as well. And sending back to Europe from Argentina, again by air, was a lot cheaper. Sorry if this is all a bit vague, I could ask him for more detailed info!

Shipping helper

We shipped our two bikes (and us) via Grimaldi. Not too expensive and worked out great.
If you need help and/or info, you can contact Mirko at
Die erste Website für Deine individuelle Fahrzeugverschiffung - Gravel Road Logistics - We ship you out there
He´s verry nice and extremely helpful, has contacts in B.A. and has now started his own transport company.
I´m sure he can help out!

why Buenos Aires? Argentina is not the easiest country on the planet considering import tax and issues.

We've met a german guy who flew his 1200GS to Quito, Ecuador... got it out of the airport in an hour!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
