Ulan-Bataar to India: cargo and storage tips

Hi from Spain,

I'm right now planning my RTW trip.

The trip goes from Europe through Russia, to Mongolia, and then heads south to India.

As far as I've seen, China seems to be a major problem, and I'm considering right now to send my bike from Mongolia and joining the bike one month later in India, and crossing China in public transportation.

The question here is: Do you guys know of any cheap cargo services covering this route, and do you know if they offer storage services for one month?

Thanks for your time.

Storage

For storage in India, you could try contacting the HU community in whatever city it will be. The Mongolia community might be out of members at the moment, but give it a try.

OK, thanks. I think I'm reconsidering my route due to the difficulties of crossing China. Thanks anyway!

Transport Ulan Bator > West Europe

Hi there,
we're planning going to Mongolia 2010 but we don't have the time to ride the bikes back; till now we've found one transport back to Europe (Holland), but they ask over 4000 euro's. That's a lot of money, does anyone know an alternative? Thanks!

Well I'm looking at doing a trip next year to mongolia,(see my thread) I'm beginning to think if I do it on a £1200 bike its cheeper to leave it there, and come back with just my panniers, assuming I dont have the time or money to come back overland. I know it sounds wasteful but its actually quite cost efficent compared to 4000 euros to ship it back.
