Bonneville racks and cases

there's not enough Triumph stuff here, so I'll add some.
WWll Military panniers seemed lik a good idea to me for the versatile carry ability..toolbox, ammo cases, gerri can, suitcase, or even an attache

my updated system

cases

here's Pelican cases.
a 1300 as a top box with a 1400 as a day tripper

here's the 1430s as side cases...the 1400 can be put above the 1300 for a 4 case system

Hi Modre

Excellent to see. And glad there's another Bonnie rider here.

I have Metal Mule racks and panniers on mine -- good but not, like yrs, unique...

racks

Hi Mike, I studied the Metal Mules...I like them, especially the quick mount system.

if you're trying to post a picture, you do this:
first you have to have the picture addressed somewhere on the web...I've been using photobucket. then you use the brackets below to tell the forum site where to fetch the picture.

[img] then paste your http URL in here between [img]

I saw the Metal Mule prices in British pounds, but didn't know how that translated into US dollars.

this set-up I made cost me about $30 in metal, and the Pelican cases w/lifetime guarentee were $55 each from pelicancases4less.

total around $140 USD + shipping + time invested.
could you educate me as to the MM system total cost?

some changes:

the rack system is killer. and mz. modre LOVES her seat now. with the forward and lowered operator's pegs, and raised sprung seat, the knees are good...making miles and hours easier.

My 2006 Bonneville T100 has a Norman Hyde carrier with Givi panniers. The max carrying weight is 5 kg per pannier, as it is with the tank bag. I use the panniers for stuff I might want while travelling ,eg waterproofs, and for stuff I don't need to take into hotels, eg tools, spares. The tank bag doubles as a rucksack, so it carries maps, docs and camera.
As I ride solo, most kit is packed into a modified suitcase which lays across the pillion seat and carrier. The carrier has a grab handle that protrudes above seat level. I have cut a slot in the suitcase and built a fibreglass box inside it . This enables the case to lie flat and also gives it some stability.
I use hotels (camping is for the young!) and take Tilly Endurables quick dry underwear to minimise what I have to pack.
Attached photographs illustrate.

Pelican Cases

modre,
I'd be interested in seeing how you mounted the pelican cases to your Bonnie, as I'm planning on doing the same myself.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
