Horizons Unlimited 'slogan'

We're considering selling t-shirts and mugs with a Horizons Unlimited Motorcycle Travellers logo and slogan / catchy phrase.

We're hiring a graphics designer to come up with some ideas for the new logo, as we've taken it as far as we can just with volunteer assistance.

Where you come in is helping us develop one or more 'slogans' to go with the logo, in keeping with the overall philosophy of the site.

This will be a contest, with a prize for the winning design of ...wait for it.... a T-shirt with the new logo and slogan. Of course, there's also the satisfaction of seeing your phrase immortalized by the global community of Horizonistas.

So here's your chance to unleash that creative genius within.

Here's a couple to get started with:

'Never settle' - this is Monster.com's slogan, but I think it suits us better!

'Live the Dream' and 'Share the Dream' - maybe not obvious enough as to what they're about?

Words which are of interest in conjunction with motorcycle, ex. motorcycle nomad or global motorcycle wanderers:

nomad
rover
wanderer
voyager
rambler
roamer

Which of the above would translate well into German, Spanish, French, Dutch, other languages? Any that have negative connotations in other cultures or languages?

That's enough from me - over to you!

Good luck and safe travels!

Susan - Don't yet have a specific slogan jelling yet, but I think an interesting idea would be the paradoxical notion that this is where nomads can always be found. Now just need a simple slogan to communicate that more cleverly...

Hai,

Don't use the word "rover" In dutch it means gangster or robber

To continue the paradox-idea: Something like: Horizonsunlimited, the only home of a traveler (or nomad or wanderer or...)

How about something humorous, like "Pave the Planet! One world, one people, one slab of asphalt." OK, I ripped it off from an Aerostich T-shirt, but it always makes me smile!

Oh, and I'm assuming the T-shirts will be high tech sweat wicking, anti-pong, fast drying etc and the mugs will be titanium??

I love "Pave the Planet! One world, one people, one slab of asphalt." - but it would probably upset a lot of folks.

'Share the Dream' says it all to me, as the site is very much about this and sharing information and ideas is what it's all about. Perhaps an additional phrase could be added which stresses the practical help on offer. Can't think what though...

The best I can come up with is 'Click on/Ride off'...

Here are a few points to ponder

If your mind wanders, ride after it!

Horizons Unlimited = Perpetual Motion

Horizons Unlimited: lost to those that follow

Let me see if I can come up with a few more later

What about tthese:
(key in the idea is the word 'trotter')

Where every (motor-)trotter goes...
www.HorizonsUnlimited.com

OR

(Motorbiking) Trotters around the world find eachother on...

Why 'trotter':
Trotter in dutch is somekind of traveller, but not the casual tourist. Also is the name of travel guides in Belgium and Holland.
And 'shall we trot' in English means lets go.
And 'Se trotter' in French means 'getting on the road again'
And the best: Trotar in Spanish means travelling! (A 'trotamundos' is actually a globetrotter!)
Can it be more international?

Also, when I as a Flemish speaking person, pronounce 'trotter' it is about the sound a kid would make to imitate a motorbike.

Ideally I would combine the word 'trotter' on the T-shirt with a picture / drawing of a travelling motorbiker. That way it should be clear to anyone anywere on the globe.

And also 'trotter' just sound fun too. Doesn't has to be too serious he!

As a subtext you could also explain the meanings of the word in the different languages.

Looking forward to the T-shirts. When can we order?

Fireboomer

(I am not a language wonder. Just thought of the word trotter in Flemmish and looked it up in some dictionaries)

In the UK the word 'Trotter' is more commonly associated with either a pig's foot or 'Del Boy'- a character from one of the best loved sit-coms: 'Only Fools & Horses'.

The latter means that the word 'Trotter' is now associated with Reliant Robins, dodgy deals and merchandise that is definately not 'pukka'.

Hmmm - I wonder is Susan & Grant would be happy to associate Horizons with these kind of values?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
