I figured that part out. What happens is the forum logs me on or off at random: sometimes in mid session, sometimes when I restart or wake the computer from sleep, sometimes to no apparent purpose, sometimes on first one and then on another web browser. When it logs me off, the "...threads below have not been updated...."line vanishes. I usually don't notice I'm logged off unless I try to post again.
Grant, I'm not terribly worried about minor stuff. I'm just letting you know, since it all adds up to a low level of irritation, and it doesn't sound like this is what you had in mind, exactly. I have no doubt that it's driving you crazy, or that you're working hard to correct the issues. I'm suggesting that people in general like to know what's going on beyond "It's all going to be great and you're going to love it." Your last post on this thread is helpful in this regard.
best,
Mark

The website for me works now how it always did apart from one small thing - and I mean small, I echo Marks thread above - no matter how many times I clear cookies or bookmark the site, whenever I go back to it I'm shown as not logged on. But as soon as I hit a link, any link, it shows me that I am logged on.

Good news createAbang - and others! Because it also works fine for me in two different browsers - so it seems to work fine when logged on. It will NOT work unless you're logged on, as it has to know from your cookies when you were last there to make the calculation of what to show.
If anyone can see that it does NOT work when they're logged in, and they can then make a post, indicating that they are logged on, then we have a problem.

Yep - that's the result of the temporary fix for the login issue - and it is NOT acceptable and we're talking to the developers about fixing it properly asap.

All the very best Grant.

One problem remains: when I first open HUBB I'm not logged on. If I refresh the page I am then logged on.

All the problems seemed to have disappeared until a few days ago.
For some reason, my browser won't "remember" me...
I have no issues logging in but I have to put my details in a again...
Although, if I then open another tab with horizons on (etc from a mail notification link), they will be saved !
wierd..

Beddhist and Ted - Yes - that's also the "temporary fix" that makes it work at all reliably. We are investigating another route of doing it that should solve all the remaining issues.
Ted - read Beddhists comment - what's happening is you ARE still logged into the site - if you refresh the page on arrival, you will probably see the Welcome box suddenly instead of the login box - if so, you ARE logged in! Your browser isn't "remembering" you because you're logged in - it's only on the first page that it LOOKS like you're not logged in. Hardly an "elegant" fix but it works.

Unfortunately I keep getting kicked out of the system again. I must have had to sign back in about 30 times so far today and it's just not funny anymore. Am I alone, or is this happening to others again too?

I had issues yesterday and had to log in again...
Although, try just hitting refresh on the page and you might still be logged in.. It just appears you're not !

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
