You'll only see it when there are new to you posts. Once you have viewed the thread, it won't be there.
One of the cool things about this software is that there is a ton of goodies - but it takes a while to find them all.  I'm still learning the admin side, it's super complex.

Ah, got it, yes that helps. thanks Grant.
Tried it and it all works properly for me, once I understood it of course.
I'm Windows XP in case that's of relevance.
<edit> It worked successfully for both single page and multiple page threads.
