"Reputation" button thingy?
...is it a new thing or has it been there for ages and I've just missed it?
What does it do??? I'm intrigued...
And what about the little green "distinguished road" thingy? Where's that going I wonder?
Fascinating times we live in.

Was wondering how long it would take someone to notice...
It is new - you can add to someone's reputation - or take away from it if they do a bad post - and it is reflected in the green dot wording. "Distinguished road" is the default starting point - I didn't choose it.
The idea is that if someone has lots of "brownie points" then their thoughts are listened to, and if they have lots of demerits, maybe not so much listened to! Good for the newbies to the site.
We've been debating whether it's a good idea or not - what does everyone think?

User Reputation Values - What do you think the titles shoud be?
Here's the Default vBulletin "User Reputation Manager Values".
I think YOU guys can do better than this!
Let me know what you think they should be - the best idea set gets a free t-shirt!
NOTE: Default score you start out with is 10, "User is on a distinguished road". Every time a user approves or disapproves a post, you get 1 + or -.
Perhaps there's not enough negative, or? The numbrs aren't fixed, only the number of levels. Feel free to rejig as you think it should be!
Minimum Reputation Level - Reputation Level
-99999 User is infamous around these parts
-50 User can only hope to improve
-10 User has a little shameless behaviour in the past
0 User is an unknown quantity at this point
10 User is on a distinguished road
50 User will become famous soon enough
150 User has a spectacular aura about
250 User is a jewel in the rough
350 User is just really nice
450 User is a glorious beacon of light
550 User is a name known to all
650 User is a splendid one to behold
1000 User has much to be proud of
1500 User has a brilliant future
2000 User has a reputation beyond repute
Thanks for your feedback!

Difficult to see how this would add serious value to the site.....but I'll start the bidding by offering to raise Simon's rating for the low, low price of a single pint, payable on demand.

I'm happy to accept your terms Mark.
I'm starting to feel that this feature may be open to massive abuse...

It could be - which is why we're asking for opinions. It's been asked for a number of times, so it's now out for your approval - or not!

So what you're trying to say, Grant, is that if I wish to abuse the system I had better hurry up because it might just vanish at any moment? Ok, I can take a hint.
I remain unclear why it is that Simon, Thomas and I are depicted as well and truly embarked on the "distinguished road," while you, Grant, are claimed to possess only a "disabled reputation."

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
