Yes!

That shows you the valid code, and the actual address of the feed - which is what you paste into your feedeader. Better feedreaders "know" the link and do it automatically when you point them at the site. Note that on our site we have a lot of different feeds - the newsletter is the HU main feed, and each individual Travellers Story blog has their own feed. We'll have at least one more in a few months, in particular one for new posts on the HUBB.

I use and like http://www.rssreader.com/ which works well, but it requires the .net framework - a big negative if you don't already need that for something else.

Search google for:

rss feed reader

and you'll get tons of info.

Gotcha!

Firefox doesn't recognise the RSS feed as such, so I have to add it manually.

I guess for use on the road I should use Thunderbird instead. I'm assuming that will let me read the HUBB offline...

err, no - Thunderbird is only an email program last I heard.

NO way to read the HUBB offline, unless you download the whole thing - and PLEASE don't do that! It's almost a gigabyte and would not only take a LONG time, but blow my bandwidth out the window too.

Wait for the RSS feed we're working on.

Thunderbird supports RSS feeds. Haven't figured out yet whether you can use it offline.

IE lets you sync pages to disk. Need to check whether you can restrict that by date, but I suspect not.

Sadly, this feature seems lacking in FF. I think it's essential, so we don't have to spend hours in expensive internet cafes.

Two months to go till we hit the road! See you in Ripley.

Well that's resurrecting the dead!

See the FAQ at: Horizons Unlimited - The HUBB - FAQ

for all the details on RSS. (Been there for years!)

e.g. this works fine in FF:

Horizons Unlimited - The HUBB - Travellers Seeking Travellers

hope that helps!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
