Haven't had a bike in 25 years, but...
I have managed to get free. Not rich, by any means, but I have time to travel. And, I am cosidering buying a bike and going from Oklahoma to Malaysia.
The route that includes the Alaska to Russia trip seems the best...a shorter trans-continental leap.
While I have not owned a bike for quite a while, I have ridden some from time to time, and I feel comfortable with the idea of indefinite travel. (As a lad, "Then Came Bronson" was my favorite TV show...LOL )
While I know people have managed to ride Harleys around the world, it would not be my first choice. But, I am curious regarding feedback about "cruiser" bikes vs. the dual purpose on-off road bikes.
My international travel has never put me in seriously remote areas, and I wonder if the roads in Russia and China would be un-manageable on something like a Honda Shadow. And, is a trailer a bad idea?
My alternative is a 32 foot sailboat I have been negotiating a price on. If anyone is interested in going along, we can always buy some bikes in Asia...
Thanks,
Terry
