Hi from Austria

Hi everybody, my name is Wolfgang, I'm going to travel to Morocco in April.
I've been there 2009 and 2014, can't wait to be there again, such a beautiful country. I travel by motorbike.
The last times I was with my single cylinder KTM 640 Adventure / KTM 690, each time for 3 weeks.
This time it's different, I travel with my KTM 1290 SAR with my wife, my son joins us with a KTM 990 and a friend with his son on a BMW R 100 GS.
Both co-riders have two weeks, my wife and me six weeks.
We will go from Malaga to Algeciras, ferry to Tanger and then - well, let's see. Two weeks, Marrakech, Fes, Erg Chebbi, Imilchil, Dades/Todra, Algeciras are more or less obligatory. My wife and me then go on, we will see where.
I joined this forum because I bought Chris' book and he mentions it there. Haven't been in a forum for long time, social media took this part.
But it seems people here are helpful, and so - let's see.
Already looked for Garmin routable Maps, I found one but don't remember where it's on my son's Zumo 350, want to send it to my friend for his Zumo 390. I already read that Island-Olaf is no more online, who remembers him?
Thanks for the acceptance!

Hi Wolfgang, and welcome to HUBB.

About 15 years ago I moved from Windows to MacOS and for several years after that I continued to run Mapsource on the Mac using Parallels Desktop, but eventually I converted my Mapsource files to Garmin Basecamp on the Mac and I now do all my route planning there.

Olaf's Maroc Topo is still a useful basic resource which I use from time to time both within Basecamp and on my Garmin (BMW Navigator VI). Olaf appears to still be online, see https://www.island-olaf.de/travel/marokko/gps.html

Generally I use OpenStreetMaps (which is routable) and this is loaded on Mapsource, my GPS and also on my iPhone using MAPS.ME app.

April is a lovely time to be in Morocco, so have fun.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
